These are our snow blowers by city: 52 Canadian cities, and we ship nationwide from Canadian stock. These city pages cover the local seasonal snowfall, how the municipal plow affects your driveway, and which of our 71 machines actually suits the conditions where you live. Snowfall varies more than four fold between the cities below, and the right machine varies with it.

What the numbers actually tell you
Read that table carefully and a pattern appears that catches most buyers out. Snowfall alone does not decide the machine.
Barrie at 253 cm and Ottawa at 223 cm are genuinely heavy seasons where a two stage machine earns its keep several times a week. But Toronto at 115 cm can be harder on equipment than Winnipeg at 114 cm, despite near identical totals, because Toronto snow melts at midday and refreezes overnight while Winnipeg snow stays dry and cold. Dense refrozen snow strains a machine far more than powder.
The second factor is the plow. Every city on this list clears residential streets after significant falls, and the bank left at the foot of your driveway is the hardest thing most machines face. A single stage machine rides over that ridge; a two stage machine cuts into it. If your street is plowed and the ridge appears most storms, that decides your purchase more than the snowfall figure does.
The third is your own property, which no city average can tell you. Use the sizing calculator to match your actual dimensions against real stock.
How delivery works anywhere in Canada
- Free shipping over $999, standard courier rates below that.
- Canadian dollars throughout, no conversion at checkout, no duty on arrival.
- Large machines by pallet on a truck with a tail lift, carrier calls ahead.
- 244 service parts by manufacturer stock number, shipped anywhere we ship machines.
Detail is on the shipping page, and buying online against a local dealer covers the trade offs.
Canada is not one winter

National advice fails in Canada because the country contains several genuinely different winters, and a machine that is generous in one is marginal in another.
| Region | Character | What it means for the machine |
|---|---|---|
| Coastal BC | Little snow, wet when it comes | A powered shovel or compact machine is often enough |
| Prairies | Cold, dry, windy, drifting | Drifting rather than depth is the problem; width helps |
| Southern Ontario | Moderate totals, heavy freeze and thaw | Dense refrozen snow, lean to two stage |
| Ontario snowbelts | Lake effect, very heavy events | 28 inch and up, tracks worth considering |
| Ottawa valley and Quebec | Heavy sustained season | Two stage, wide, with a real plow ridge every storm |
| Atlantic Canada | Wet dense coastal snow | Two stage; density not depth is the limit |
The prairie case is the least intuitive. Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina and Edmonton all sit near or below 130 cm, which sounds modest, but open exposure means snow relocates. You may clear a driveway that received 5 cm and find 30 cm of drift against the garage. Width and throw distance matter there in a way the seasonal total does not capture.
Southern Ontario is the opposite trap. Toronto, Mississauga and Brampton get comparatively little snow, so buyers under specify, then meet a slushy refrozen ridge in February that a light single stage machine cannot move.
When to buy, and why it matters more here
The Canadian snow blower market is brutally seasonal. Demand sits near nothing through summer and rises roughly sixteen fold by December. That has three practical consequences.
Availability collapses during storms. The first serious fall of the season is when retailers, rental yards and workshops all run out at once, in every city on this list simultaneously. Buying then means taking whatever is left rather than what suits your driveway.
Prices are better before the season. Reduced machines appear on the sale page ahead of demand rather than during it.
Assembly and setup want an unhurried hour. A petrol two stage machine takes about 30 to 45 minutes to assemble plus the first oil fill. Doing that in a lit garage in October is a different experience from doing it in a dark driveway while snow falls.
If you are reading this mid storm, clear what you can by hand today and order for the rest of the winter. There will be more snow.
Choosing without a showroom
The honest disadvantage of buying online is that you cannot stand next to the machine first. Most of what you would learn by doing so can be settled with a tape measure and three questions.
- What is the surface? Gravel or loose stone means two stage, with no exceptions, because a single stage paddle contacts the ground and throws whatever it finds.
- Does the plow bank your driveway? If yes, two stage again. This is the question that decides most purchases in the cities above.
- Will it fit where it lives? Measure the gate, the shed door and the floor space. A standard garden gate is 36 inches and a 28 inch machine is close to 32 inches overall.
Answer those and the shortlist is usually two or three machines. The calculator does the arithmetic, and if the answers conflict, send us the numbers. We would rather move you to a cheaper machine that fits than process a return in January.
Parts availability is the question that outlasts the purchase. We hold 244 service parts by manufacturer stock number against 72 machines, which is why a repair in year six is an order rather than a hunt. Ask any seller, local or online, the same question before you spend.
What we hold, by size

Whichever city you are in, the range is the same. These are the machines available for delivery right now.
| Class | Width | Machines | Price range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Powered snow shovels | 10 to 13 inch | 28 | $139.34 to $579.99 |
| Compact single stage | 16 to 21 inch | 21 | $278.75 to $849.99 |
| Mid size | 22 to 24 inch | 10 | $320.56 to $3,199 |
| Large two stage | 25 to 34 inch | 9 | $1,299 to $2,399 |
| Tracked | 26 to 42 inch | 4 | $1,799 to $5,999 |
Three ranges make up the catalogue: 27 Greenworks and 25 Snow Joe on the cordless and corded side, and 15 Ducar petrol machines. We stock those three properly rather than listing twenty brands and holding none, which is what makes the parts commitment possible.
Browse by type: compact machines, single stage, two stage, tracked, battery, corded electric and snow shovels.

If your city is not listed, the method is the same: take your local seasonal total, check whether your street is plowed and whether the surface is paved, then size on the area you actually clear. The calculator handles the arithmetic, and remote or northern addresses should check delivery with us before ordering.
One note on northern and remote delivery: pallet freight to smaller communities can take longer and occasionally costs more than the free shipping threshold covers. We will tell you before you order rather than after, which is the whole reason this page exists rather than a map with pins in it.
Two references are worth keeping to hand. Environment and Climate Change Canada publishes the official climate normals for every station in the country, which is where the snowfall figures on these pages come from. For the safety side, the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety sets out why clearing snow by hand is harder on the heart than most people expect, and Health Canada covers cold weather exposure.
That safety point is the quiet argument for a machine. Manual clearing combines cold air, an awkward lifting posture and sudden exertion, and the risk rises with age and with the weight of wet snow. A powered shovel at $139 removes most of the lifting from a city path. A two stage machine removes it from a driveway and a plow ridge as well. Neither is a luxury in a country where the season runs five months in most of the cities on this page.
Whichever city page you land on, the recommendation is built the same way: local snowfall, plow behaviour, surface, and the actual area you clear. Nothing on this site recommends a bigger machine than the conditions justify, because an oversized blower is harder to store, harder to turn and costs more to keep running.
Why we list snow blowers by city at all
Sorting snow blowers by city looks like an SEO habit until you compare two Canadian driveways. Barrie receives about 253 cm a season and Vancouver about 38 cm, a difference of more than six times, and no single recommendation survives that spread.
There are four reasons we organise snow blowers by city rather than publishing one national buying guide.
- Snowfall. The seasonal total sets the minimum sensible width. Listing snow blowers by city is the only way to hold that number in front of you while you choose.
- Plow behaviour. Municipal clearing schedules and ridge heights differ street by street, let alone province by province. Grouping snow blowers by city lets us say what actually happens on your road in February.
- Snow character. Prairie snow drifts, coastal snow compacts, and Ontario snow refreezes. A page that treats snow blowers by city can say which of those you are buying against.
- Delivery reality. Timelines to a city centre and to a rural address are not the same. Presenting snow blowers by city keeps that honest rather than hiding it behind a national promise.
The result is that our snow blowers by city pages recommend different machines for different places, which is the point. If every city page recommended the same model, the exercise would be decoration.
One caution about buying guides that sort snow blowers by city elsewhere. Many are written against United States snowfall data and United States stock, which means the machine recommended may not be sold in Canada at all, and the one that is will carry a customs charge. Every machine on our snow blowers by city pages is held in Canadian stock.
Common questions
Do you have stores in these cities?
No. Snow Blowers Canada is an online retailer shipping from Canadian stock, so there are no storefronts to visit in any city. Machines are delivered to your door, which matters more than it sounds once you realise a 28 inch two stage machine does not fit in a car.
Why does the recommended machine differ by city?
Because snow behaves differently. Toronto gets less snow than Ottawa but has more freeze and thaw, which produces dense refrozen snow that strains a machine more than dry powder at twice the depth. Each city page uses the local seasonal total and plowing pattern rather than a national average.
Do you ship outside these cities?
Yes, Canada wide including smaller communities. These pages exist because they are our busiest destinations, not because they are the only places we deliver. Remote and northern addresses can take longer.
Which city has the heaviest season on this list?
Barrie at roughly 253 cm, followed by Ottawa at about 223 cm. Both are two stage territory for most real driveways. Saskatoon and Regina sit near the bottom at about 100 to 106 cm of much drier snow.
Start with the calculator, browse every width we hold, or read stages explained and the buying guide. Snowfall records come from Environment and Climate Change Canada.
